PSA OKs Metalworking Industry Survey



Consultative Dialogue for Electroplating Industry Conducted at MIRDC

     The Metals Industry Research and Development Center held a Consultative Dialogue participated in by representatives from the electroplating sector on October 19, 2016 at the MIRDC Silver Auditorium. Industry players joined the Center in discussing and formulating appropriate solutions to relevant issues to help boost the electroplating sector. Dr. Danilo N. Pilar, Chief of the Technology Diffusion Division (TDD) of the MIRDC presented the draft of the Philippine Electroplating Industry Study and actively facilitated the dialogue. Read More .

MIRDC Deploys CNC Router in Laguna

     The Metals Industry Research and Development Center, an agency of the Department of Science and Technology, is assisting the Whittlers Arts and Crafts of Pakil, Laguna through the deployment of a new technology - the CNC router. The Whittlers designated some of its employees undergo training on how to operate and maintain the machine that will be used to produce its various products. The CNC router or Super Lilok is one of the machines recently developed by MIRDC in partnership with a private company – Primark Toolings, Inc. - to help the furniture industry to meet the requirements for consistent quality thus, attaining global competitiveness.      The Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) is preparing for the grand celebration of its golden founding anniversary on June 18, 2016. The key officials of the MIRDC are looking forward to a robust participation not only of the MIRDC personnel but also of the metalworking industry associations and other stakeholders. Read more .

MIRDC Launches Food Processing Technologies

      The Metals Industry Research and Development Center launched two (2) research and development outputs specifically for brown rice last December 9, 2015 at the MIRDC Platinum Auditorium. The technoenthusiasts, press people together with the metals and engineering industry players and key personnel of government institutions joined MIRDC in these launching of new technologies. The food processing equipment for brown rice are the microwave vacuum dryer and the superheated steam treatment system (SSTS). The microwave vacuum dryer which will produce a rice-bran of finer-grade is an effective device to make the brown rice more edible and pleasing to eat. Samples of rice bran are free tasted on this occasion through the bread and hotdogs that were served. Brown rice is one of the hottest, healthy staple food in the Philippines today. Read more.
